Return policy for Aldi Stores. I have recently bought a vacuum food sealer from Aldi which doesn't seal the bags properly. I brought it back, with purchase receipt and they will not refund because I can't find the operating instructions. They say it is not a complete unit unless the instructions are with it!! They also said original packaging was needed too. I have now lost $99 and have a useless product. Has anyone else had the same trouble, if so what did you do? If you kept the packaging for every product you bought you would need an extra room to store it all for goodness sake. (this is in Australia)
Does the foodsaver vaccum sealer really preserve food well? I am concidering buying one so I can do less food shopping. I would like to buy a freezer that I can put in the garage and I thought the foodsaver might help extend the life of the food. How well does it work and is it economical?

Considering purchasing a vacuum sealer or "food saver"? My husband's brother has one and swears by it but I've heard conflicting evidence. Some say the cost of the bags makes it not worth it, others say it doesn't work that great or it's a pain to use. Any experience with these things? Kohl's has one on sale for $59.99 with 10 bucks back that is regularly 139 (so they claim). It comes with two canisters as well. Worth it or not? Help us decide. Thanks for you help!

What are my best options for packaging foods to sell to health food stores? I am starting my own business selling prepared foods to health food stores. A number of the things that I want to sell are going to need to be packaged in sealed plastic bags (e.g. flax crackers, etc.). In order to do this, do I need to buy my own sealer as well as the bags? Can I just buy bags with that are already resealable? Can anyone suggest a good source to buy these products from?
Food Saver VS. Seal a Meal? I bought a seal a meal vs 220 vacuum food sealer, 6 months or so ago. Any thoughts on this would be nice. I would really like to hear from someone that has had one for a few years to see if it will last. :) Thanks

I have been making homemade Salsa with herbs and tomatoes, green peppers, and hot peppers from the garden.? Can anyone tell me from experience if you can freeze fresh Salsa...I Do Not want to heat can anything. You must answer from experience since freezing doesn't always work unless produce is blanched. Also , I can't use my Deni food sealer so what is the best storage container to use for freezing if you recommend it.

Food storage/preservation???? I'm looking for the best way to store and preserve my food.. I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with those food sealers & bags?? I'm a bachelor and like to go food shopping once in a while (to cover a long period of time) but vegetables and fruits go bad so quickly, i wind up throwing it all out which is such a waste. Also, meats/chicken and other stuff could be preserved longer in the freezer but i don't know the best way to do this? Tupperware and ziplock bags really don't cut it. Anyone have experience with food sealers or have any other good ideas to help me keep my food real fresh for real long??
Can I tile over wood flooring, it's a bedroom and will not have food or drinks in it ever.? Im taking the carpet up in that room, looking for some cheap easy to-do tiles. Should I put something in between the wood floor and the tiles or is a sealer all I need?!?
How to send baked goods to my soldier? I just made some delicious banana bread and i know my hubby would love a loaf, but he is in Iraq. Is there a way i can send it without it spoiling??? Is it OK to leave steak out to defrost? I love steak and freeze it a lot sometimes when I buy in bulk. I know that the best way to defrost it is to leave it in the fridge for a day or two...however, sometimes I forget and when I want steak that night, I will just take it out and leave it on the counter for 3-4 hours. The steak is always vacuum wrapped - either I buy it at the market that way or I seal it myself with my food vacuum sealer. So is it OK to do this? I would think that if it's sealed it's better since it will inhibit bacterial growth. Does it reduce the steak quality at all?
Is concrete/cement safe for food use? If I were to make a cup out of concrete/cement, would it be safe to drink out of? If I used a "food safe" sealer like Miracle 511, would it be ok? Thanks!

Can a vacuum sealer be used to seal 'regular' plastic bags? I am wondering if a vacuum sealer like the Food Saver or the Rival Seal-a-Meal can be used to seal regular plastic bags. I don't necessarily need the air to be vacuumed out but I want to be able to reseal stuff like pepperoni or hotdogs or stuff from the freezer like chicken fingers etc (in their original packaging). Has anyone tried this? I would not imagine it would not damage the sealer (as long as the plastic is thick enough). Please let me know what model of vacuum sealer you have had experience using 'regular' plastic bags with -- and how 'thin' can you go with the plastic (ie a ziploc freezer bag has 'thick' plastic and a crinkly shopping bag is 'thin')
Is there a glue that can seal sheets of plastic together? Is there a glue that can seal/bond 2 thin (about 30 microns or less) sheets of plastic together, the same EXACT way that they would seal/bond if the same 2 sheets were heat sealed? (kinda like those food vacuum sealers)

Storage question for raw food bread - Should I store it in the fridge or pantry? I recently bought a vacuum sealer and vacuum sealed portions of this raw food bread. I made the bread in a dehydrator, starting Friday night and finishing Saturday morning. The recipe is: carrot pulp, flax powder, chia powder, olive oil (small amount), sesame seeds, water and spics. The "bread" is a bit like a cracker biscuit that is soft. I vacuum wrapped it just a few moments ago (Monday evening Australian time). Should I store it in the fridge or pantry? How long will it last? The guidebook says cookiers/crackers last 1 - 2 weeks normally in the pantry and 3 to 6 weeks in the pantry when vacuum sealed so I'm assuming this is the case but not sure. Thanks
I need easy vacuum sealed food recipes for camping, any ideas? We are camping with 13 people and I don't want to spend all day cooking. We have a vacuum sealer that we use for freezing, but thought maybe we could prepare meals, freeze and store...then boil (like they did on TV) but I have no food vision. What can I prepare ahead, freeze and boil? What can I just throw together in the bag, freeze and boil (not cooked before)? Spaghetti is all I can think of. Please help. I have read some great ideas...but should I prepare the meals before? and then freeze in the bags? or put unprepared meals to cook in the bags (boil in water)? I should have said I have no cooking common sense...I can follow a recipe, but not think of things on my own.
Which Foodsaver should I get? So I'm gonna buy a foodsaver for my parents for christmas but I can't decide which one to buy FoodSaver V2840 Advanced Design Vacuum Food Sealer is on amazon.com for $130. or Foodsaver Vaccum Sealing System w/SmartSeal Technology at costco.com for $140 Which one is the best overall for you money?
Do I really need to seal an Outdoor Granite Counter top?? I have an outdoor built-in barbecue in NJ (where the temp can be 0 deg. F). The countertop of the bbq has a natural granite countertop which is dark brown. Now everyone I speak to recommends sealing it as they say the granite will stain. Since I did not find any granite sealers for outdoor use, I used an outdoor stone tile sealer. Do I really need to bother with sealing?? Granite is a stone and they make statues and cemetery headstones of granite. I do cleanup immediately after I cook. I never put food directly on the stone... so only thing on it is plates/platters. There maybe some food and sauce drips, which is quickly wiped to maintain hygeine. I can't find anyone with a similar barbecue setup to advise me! What is your experience with granite outside as far as sealing is concerned. Any recommended brand of sealer? I saw something in Home Depot for $80!!! I paid $800 for the granite, including installation - there was no way I was paying $80 for a granite sealer! BTW, I do cover it with a tarp when not in use. Summer and Winter!
